2025 - Year in Review

As we close out 2025, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on another year of serving families through pregnancy, birth, postpartum care, and CranioSacral Therapy. Each year brings its own unique challenges, joys, and learning opportunities, and I remain deeply grateful for every family that entrusts our team with their care.

Hospital Transfers & Higher-Risk Situations

As always, safety remains one of our highest priorities. While the majority of our clients delivered at home as planned, there were situations where additional medical support was needed.

Reasons for hospital transfers or hospital involvement included:

  • High blood pressure (3 cases)

  • Fetal distress leading to cesarean birth

  • Fetal distress - Meconium Aspiration Syndrome

  • Severe iron deficiency following cancer treatment

  • Prolonged labor and maternal exhaustion (2 cases)

  • Placental abruption

  • Stillbirth

  • Torn uterus

  • Twin pregnancy delivering at 40 weeks and 5 days

  • Induction after PROM with meconium (successful VBAC)

  • Planned hospital birth following multiple pregnancy losses

  • Planned or desired hospital births (2)

  • Blood incompatibility/Rh sensitization

  • Newborn treatment on day 5 for blood incompatibility concerns

  • Postpartum treatment for retained placenta

Cesarean Births

During 2025, there were 7 cesarean births, with 1 being pre-planned.

As always, our goal is not to avoid medical intervention at all costs, but to help families make informed decisions and receive the level of care that is most appropriate for their situation.

Looking Back

Every birth tells a unique story. Some births unfolded exactly as planned, while others required flexibility, collaboration, and additional medical support.

One of the greatest privileges of this work is walking alongside families during some of the most significant moments of their lives. Whether welcoming a first baby, navigating a VBAC, experiencing a twin birth, or facing unexpected challenges, it is an honor to be part of those journeys.

I am incredibly thankful for my team, our community, and the many families who continue to support Harrisburg Midwife & Wellness.

Thank you for allowing us to be part of your stories.

I wish you all a healthy, joyful, and peaceful 2026.
