Craniosacral Therapy
Gentle, Functional Support for Women and Children
At Harrisburg Midwife & Wellness, Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a core part of our holistic care approach. We offer this gentle, hands-on therapy to support women and children, particularly in optimizing infant & childhood development through proper nervous system functioning.
Whether your child is navigating developmental delays or you're seeking relief from chronic tension or postpartum stress, CST can be a powerful tool for restoring balance and improving overall well-being.

What Is Craniosacral Therapy?
Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle technique that focuses on relieving tension in the tissues surrounding the brain and spinal cord. By supporting the nervous system and releasing restrictions, CST promotes better physical, emotional, and neurological health. Using a light touch, we help your body find its natural rhythm and healing potential.
Who Can Benefit from CST?
CST is suitable for people of all ages, but Kristy’s current focus is on serving:
Infants & Young Children (to age 2):
Feeding difficulties (including pre & post tongue/lip tie release)
Movement restrictions or stiffness
Recovery from invasive procedures (circumcision, spinal tap, blood draws) or other surgeries
Developmental delays or sensory processing challenges
Emotional trauma or birth-related stress (e.g., lack of touch, shoulder dystocia, resuscitation, nuchal/body cord, forceps, Cesarean, etc.)
NICU placement (respirators, intubation, low birth weight)
Recent, recurrent, or ongoing illness
Women:
Prenatal wellness, balancing, and support
Postpartum recovery and emotional processing
Headaches, chronic tension, or hormonal imbalance
Nervous system regulation and stress relief
What to Expect During a Session
These sessions are quiet, gentle, and deeply calming. You or your child will rest fully clothed on a comfortable massage table while Kristy uses light, focused touch to assess and release tension within the body’s tissues. This subtle yet powerful work supports the nervous system by improving the flow of communication between the brain and body through the cranial nerves and spinal cord. Many clients find Craniosacral Therapy to be both relaxing and restorative, promoting a sense of balance and well-being.
For newborns, Craniosacral Therapy offers gentle, nurturing support during the early days of life. While your baby remains fully clothed and comfortably supported, Kristy uses soft, intentional touch to release tension patterns that may have developed during pregnancy or birth. This can help ease feeding challenges, improve sleep, support digestion, and promote relaxation.
Childhood is a time of rapid growth, change, and development—physically, emotionally, and neurologically. Craniosacral Therapy offers gentle, non-invasive support to help your child navigate these changes with more ease. During the session, your child remains fully clothed and comfortably positioned while Kristy uses soft, precise touch to assess and release areas of tension.
This therapy can support functional concerns such as sensory processing, focus and attention, sleep patterns, digestion, and regulation of emotions. By encouraging healthy communication within the nervous system, Craniosacral Therapy helps children thrive during their most formative years.
Craniosacral Therapy offers postpartum mothers a quiet, restorative space to unwind and reconnect with their bodies. Using gentle, hands-on techniques, Kristy helps release physical and emotional tension held after birth—supporting nervous system regulation, hormonal balance, and the body’s natural recovery process. These sessions are deeply calming and can be an important part of postpartum healing and self-care.

"Our daughter struggled with frequent spit-ups, gas discomfort, and restless sleep. We started bringing her to Kristy for CST sessions when she was 5 months old. After just a few appointments, we saw noticeable improvements, and after our 3rd and 4th sessions, she started having regular bowel movements, and improved mobility overall. We are positive that these sessions directly resulted in our baby’s ability to crawl! We are very happy with Kristy, and highly recommend her."

“I have always felt pretty limited on my left side, I had poor peripheral vision, poor range of motion, and persistent pain in my left hip. I also had a very severe gag reflex that prohibited me from swallowing pills easily and required that I chewed my food excessively. After just one CST session I experienced a significant decrease in my gag reflex and my left-sided body function improved significantly. I even had to change the mirrors in my car due to improved movement range and my left hip pain that affected me for over a decade pretty much disappeared. At my subsequent chiropractor appointment, my scan looked better than it had before, and I needed fewer corrections by the chiropractor!”
